Auglaize Golf Club is located south of Defiance, Ohio on the Auglaize River. The front 9 is completely surrounded by a body of water with many mature trees. Water can come into play on 13 of the 18 holes. The back 9 is more forgiving and open. There are 33 sand bunkers that come into play on the course. The greens are a bent/poa mix, fairways and tees are blue/rye/poa mix. The shapes and contours of the greens add the biggest challenge on the course. Auglaize is well maintained for any level of golfer to enjoy.

Hole 1 - Par 4

The first hole at Auglaize Golf Club is a slight dogleg left over water.
Some player may find this opening shot intimidating. A well struck
tee ball will leave most players with a middle iron into the green
that slops from right to left. Pulled or hooked tee shots
will make this hole difficult. Bail out right or hit through
the fairway right, bogey is likely. Par here is a great start.
Hole 2 - Par 5

Hole number 2 is an early birdie opportunity. With water down the
left and in course out of bounds right. A straight tee ball is
necessary to take advantage of this par 5. If all trouble is
avoided, most player will have a metal wood or long
iron to attack this green in two. This green is heavily bunkered
both long and short. Go long on your 2nd shot at the green and
you may be out of bounds. An excellent risk reward golf hole.
Hole 3 - Par 4

After the par5 second hole, players are faced with a difficult
dogleg left par 4. Hit your drive left your in a hazard, hit it right, your
in the trees. Your second shot requires good distance control.
With this deep green and slop from back to front a
3 putt can easily be made. Keep your
approach shot below this hole.
Hole 4 - Par 3
Blue tees - 174 yards
White tees - 163 yards
Red tees - 155 yards
The first par 3 on the course. Ranked the
second toughest hole on the front.
With bunkers left and right, this par 3 is all about
hitting it straight. Depending on wind conditions, this hole
can play 1 or 2 clubs long or short. Long and left
could put your ball into a hazard. Make your 3
and move on to the next hole.
Hole 5 - Par 4
Blue tees - 349 yards
White tees - 331 yards
Red tees - 276 yards
Your first opportunity to relax with driver in hand. The par4
5th hole is a nice risk reward hole. Hit your drive over
the bunker and you'll have 60 or less to this left to right
sloping green. Hit your drive into the bunker, bogey or
worse may result. Depending on the pin location, approaches
short will test your short game. Hit your approach hole
high on this par 4 and you'll have a reasonable chance at birdie.
Hole 6 - Par 4

Red tees - 311 yards
A slight dogleg left, the par 4 number 6 hole is the number
one handicap hole on the front side. With trees guarding
the left side, a miss hit drive down the left could be trouble.
Bailing out to the right will make this tough hole play that
much tougher. This green slopes from back to front, and
slopes on both sides. Keep your approach below this hole.
Hole 7 - Par 5

With the par 5 7th hole, what you see is what you get. Hit it
straight down the middle and you'll have a chance to go for it
in two. Bail out right or left, you might have to lay up because
of the tree trouble. With bunkers guarding this green, short
on the right and left. Those players who choose to go for it and
find one of the bunkers will be faced with the most difficult
shot in golf. The 50-60 yard bunker shot. If the pin
is up front, hitting your approach long, could result in
a 3-putt. A great par 5.
Hole 8 - Par 3
Blue tees - 156 yards
White tees - 144 yards
Red tees - 134 yards
The second par 3 on the course is ranked as the
easiest hole on the front side at Auglaize Golf Club.
Wind direction plays a factor on this par 3. Any shot
long and left will be fish food. Depending
on the pin location this green can be easily 3 putted.
Keep your approach below the pin.
Hole 9 Par 4
Blue tees - 382 yards
White tees - 352 yards
Red tees - 280 yards
A slight dogleg left the par 4 number 9 hole can
make or break your front nine score. A poor tee
shot left or hooked left will bring bogey or worse.
With some trees down the right, a straight tee
shot will be rewarded on this hole. Leaving most
players with a mid to short iron, this green slopes
from left to right with a mound on the left side.
Once again, hit the ball hole high here, you will have
a good opportunity for birdie.
Hole 10 - Par 4
Blue tees - 367 yards
White tees - 360 yards
Red tees - 289 yards
A good starting hole on the backside. The 10th
hole is a straight par 4. A good drive will leave most
golfers with a short to middle iron into this domed green.
The green slops slightly from left to right.
Hole 11 - Par 3
Blue tees - 178 yards
White tees - 158 yards
Red tees - 108 yards
The first par 3 on the backside at Auglaize will
challenge any level of golfer. With the green
sloping severely in the front, and running away
on the backside. Hitting this green can be difficult.
Long here, or short siding yourself will test your
short game skills. Make your 3 and go onto the next hole.
Hole 12 - Par 5
Blue tees - 509 yards
White tees - 482 yards
Red tees - 436 yards
A dogleg right par 5, is a birdie opportunity.
Longer hitters will hit over the trees on the right.
This aggressive play will leave some golfers with a short
to mid iron on their approach for a chance at eagle.
Fail to make it over the trees, you may make 6 or 7.
Once in the fairway, golfers are challenged to hit
over Pete's pond to this domed green. Scores
ranging from 3 to 8 can be made on this terrific par 5.
Hole 13 - Par 5
Blue tees - 495 yards
White tees - 495 yards
Red tees - 344 yards
A generous landing area on this par 5 will entice all
golfer to go for this par 5 in two. With a small domed
green, it is difficult to stop the ball, and have a realistic
putt for eagle. Get the ball near the green in two,
you'll have a short chip to get it close to the
hole and a chance at birdie.
Hole 14 - Par 3
Blue tees - 215 yards
White tees - 181 yards
Red tees - 143 yards
Perhaps the most notable hole at Auglaize. This difficult
par 3 can reach up and grab you. With the green sloping
from back to front, anything long will a difficult up and down.
Right or left will test even the most skilled golfers short games.
Once on the green, a two putt is no guarantee. Stay
below the pin here if possible. Make a 3 here, get over
to 15 quickly.
Hole 15 - Par 4
Blue tees - 407 yards
White tees - 399 yards
Red tees - 357 yards
The number one handicap hole on the backside. 15 is
a straight away par 4 with out of bounds on the right.
Long rough and trees guard the left side. A well
struck tee ball will leave most golfers with a mid to
long iron into this challenging green. Long here and
a 5 or 6 is certain. Stay below this pin placement
Hole 16 - Par 4
Blue tees - 348 yards
White tees - 348 yards
Red tees - 301 yards
Most long hitter will be forced to hit 3 wood or
long iron here to avoid hitting their drive into the
water hazard that crosses 16 fairway. Once in the
fairway, most golfers will have a scoring club in hand.
With a bunker guarding the leftside, and the green sloping
away on the right. Hitting this green is a must. Short
side yourself, bogey or worse is likely.
Hole 17 - Par 4

Red tees - 211 yards
Ranked the easiest and the shortest par 4 on the course.
17 offers golfer a good birdie chance. A tee shot down
the right will bring the bunker protecting the green into play.
Aim down the left for the best angle to this green.
Longer hitters may drive this green or be hole high.
A great risk reward hole.
Hole 18 - Par 4
Blue tees - 391 yards

Red tees - 322 yards
With trees down the left side and a water hazard down
the right side of this slight dogleg left. 18 is a demanding
finishing hole at Auglaize. The fairway slopes from left
to right. This will leave the ball below your feet for
your approach shot into this elevated green. With the green
sloping from left to right also, golfers will be tested
trying to make par on this last hole. Good luck.
